Brand for the change ahead.

To be human is to change.

We grow, adapt, and pivot. Sometimes we welcome change; sometimes we resist it. And sometimes, ready or not, it arrives quietly and rearranges everything.

In business, change doesn’t wait for permission.

Most of you can recall a moment when change imposed its will in your personal life. For my family, it arrived when a loved one faced a major health challenge. In an instant, the path we had mapped shifted. Plans that once felt steady became uncertain, and what felt like progress toward a summit suddenly seemed like we had been repositioned back at the base.

At least, that’s how it seemed.

What we couldn’t see in the fog was this: disruption became a catalyst. It clarified priorities, awakened resilience, strengthened faith, and forced us to design a new path forward — not the one we would have originally chosen, but one that ultimately shaped us for the better.

Often, business works much the same way.

When change becomes the catalyst

At Spoke, change is constant. Platforms evolve, technology accelerates, expectations rise, and markets shift. What worked yesterday doesn’t guarantee tomorrow.

The most visible force today? AI.

But instead of asking AI to define us, we asked ourselves a deeper question for our brand-first marketing agency: What is our purpose – and how can emerging tools support it without replacing it?

That required reflection. Over the past year, we paused to examine our strongest work and most trusted partnerships. We looked for patterns, and one truth surfaced:

Our most meaningful work happens when companies are facing real inflection points – moments when leaders say, “Something has shifted. Now what?”

This realization led us to define what we now call Thresholds of Change.

The five thresholds

Through experience and observation, we’ve identified five common moments when businesses find themselves standing at a threshold:

Brand, Product, or Service Launch
When expansion or reinvention in the market requires clear positioning about who you are, what you offer, and why it matters now.

Mergers & Acquisitions
When two or more entities must become one, without losing the strengths of either.

Leadership & Organizational Alignment
When new vision, structure, or growth demands team-wide clarity, shared priorities, and a unified go-to-market approach.

Market Shifts
When political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental forces are impacting you and the market you serve.

Changing Buying Behaviors
When growth stalls and the gap between prospect/customer interest and action reveals misalignment.

Look across the business landscape today, and you’ll find that nearly every organization is navigating at least one of these (and I am guessing you can relate to this, too). These thresholds of change aren’t signs of failure. They’re signals of evolution. And how you respond to them determines what happens next.

Spoke-2026 Changes Poll-graphic

In a recent poll, nearly half of respondents said they are launching a new brand, product, or service this year. Leadership transitions and AI or sustainability initiatives followed closely behind. Mergers and acquisitions remain significant for many. The message is clear: change isn’t theoretical, it’s already underway. (And it’s shaping the content you’ll see in this series moving forward.)

Our partners: The real pioneers

Throughout this series, we’ll spotlight partners who trusted us in their moments of change.

We call them partners intentionally because when the stakes are high and the future feels unsettled, relationships deepen. They become collaborative. Strategic. Human.

You’ll hear interviews. You’ll see real stories from leaders who chose to confront change directly rather than wait for it to define them.

They are the pioneers of this series – leaders who understand that brand isn’t cosmetic, but structural. Directional. Foundational when the ground begins to shift.

The minds behind the work

We have a unique culture at Spoke. We’re a small team of seasoned experts (no junior teams), with a collective knowledge that comes from all angles of this business. It’s wonderful to be a part of – smart people with big hearts instead of egos.

Throughout this series you’ll hear from the different minds of our team members. Each of us brings a unique perspective on this topic of change, or anecdotes from some of the work we’ll be showcasing.

We believe people like working with people they feel good about. If you find a team that cares about your business as much as you do, that’s the team you build trust with and connect with at a truly human level. That’s the team you move forward with, together.

Your brand at the precipice

If you’re standing at a threshold right now, here’s the opportunity:

Change gives you permission to clarify: Who are we now? What do we stand for? What do customers need from us? What should we release? What must we double down on?

Thresholds are invitations to strengthen position and sharpen story, not just to look different, but to move with intention.

At Spoke, we build what we call refreshingly human brands. Thoughtful, authentic, and meaningful but also grounded and refined in research and aligned with both your goals and your customers’ realities.

If branding has felt abstract in the past, we understand. But if you value purpose, culture, customer experience, and strategy, you already value brand, because brand is the bucket that holds everything together.

We asked our fearless leader why he thought the Thresholds of Change story was important for businesses to hear:

“Status quo is the most rational decision for companies – and the most dangerous one. It feels responsible and looks like risk management, but it slowly erodes differentiation, weakens conviction, and makes growth harder than it needs to be.”

Moving forward, together

Over the coming months, we’ll explore each Threshold of Change in depth and the importance of how a brand can guide you through that change. We’ll share lessons from the field, examine real-world examples, and offer practical insights for leaders navigating uncertainty.

If you’re facing change or sensing it on the horizon we’d love to hear from you. We believe businesses grow stronger when they learn from one another, when leaders share stories, and when humans connect with humans.

Change is inevitable. But chaos isn’t.

How you move through your threshold – with clarity, with intention, with confidence – that’s the difference between reacting and leading.

And we’re here to help you brand for the change ahead.
